The Johnny Cash Roadshow
The No.1 Johnny Cash tribute - hearing is believing!
The Johnny Cash Roadshow, a tribute featuring Clive John as the Man in Black, celebrates the music of one of America’s greatest music performers.
Formed in 2006, from Clive's love for the music of the late great artist, The Johnny Cash Roadshow band delivers an energetic and entertaining show for all to enjoy.
Clive and the band passionately present a tribute to Cash but without trying to impersonate him - there was only one Man In Black!
The show features many of the artist's classic tracks from the San Quentin and Folsom Prison concerts right up to Hurt, the haunting and emotional Nine Inch Nails song, which Cash recorded only months before his death.
Clive John and The Johnny Cash Roadshow band play a tribute to the artist Johnny Cash with songs including The Ring of Fire, Boy Named Sue, Folsom Prison Blues, Man In Black, One Piece at a Time, Give My Love to Rose, and many more. These are beautifully complemented by a perfect selection of Clive's own songs like Time and Cigarettes & Coffee.
The Johnny Cash Roadshow completes the tribute to the Man In Black with regular guest slots by artists such as Rosie Lee performing as June Carter.
During his long and illustrious career Johnny Cash penned, or had written for him, over five hundred songs. Like Cash, Clive is a talented and prolific songwriter with to date, over one hundred songs in his catalogue.
Drawing on this repertoire enables the show to be a new experience every time you see it, with new material and guest performances by talented musicians and singers.
This really is THE number one tribute to Johnny Cash.
Johnny Cash – The American Legend
From his first hits in the 1950s right up to his last album with the ‘American Recordings’, the quality and wealth of material Johnny Cash produced remains unparalleled by another.
However, as much as his recordings made Johnny Cash the star he was, the real charisma and passion that the Man In Black possessed became most evident on stage.
He toured regularly until ill health made it almost impossible for him to continue on the road.
Johnny Cash and June Carter
In 1956 June Carter met Johnny Cash when they were both performing as part of the Opry Company, and by the mid 60s were on stage regularly as a duo.
For much of his life Cash battled with his addiction with drugs and alcohol and often credits June for helping him through the hard times, many say that this is what led them to have such a close bond and become one of the greatest love stories ever known.
Cash and Carter were married in a church in Franklin Kentucky in 1968, just a week after Johnny proposed to June on stage in London Ontario. From that moment on the pair were musically entwined for 35 years winning 2 Grammy awards for their performances of ‘Jackson’ and ‘If I were a Carpenter’ in 1968.
Johnny and June showcased unforgettable performances together at venues including Folsom and San Quentin prisons and sold millions of records in their careers. Using their love as food for their song writing they created the most lasting and memorable and love songs including ‘Flesh and Blood’ and ‘Ring of Fire’ about their love and attraction for each other.
Johnny and June brought 6 children to their marriage and went on to have just one child together, John Carter Cash – their only son.
June died on May 15th 2003 with Johnny holding her hand. Johnny continued to work after June’s death in order to feel close to her again. He recorded his adaptation of the Nine Inch Nails song Hurt just 3 weeks after her death and his passion and feeling of his performance won him the MTV song of the year award.
Johnny died just 4 months after June on September 12th 2003.
